Every project I work on is, to a greater or lesser degree, a collaborative venture. Working closely with my clients, I develop materials that match their needs and exceed their expectations. Here are a few examples of my work. Additional writing samples are available upon request.

For this project, I provided a range of services, drafting fresh new language to describe SAGE; interviewing SAGE clients and donors to create brief profiles showcasing the importance of SAGE’s work; and proofreading, copyediting, and developing style guidelines. I connected SAGE with an excellent designer, worked closely with this designer at critical points in the process, and contributed photography services.

I provided concept development, writing, and editorial services for this information-rich annual report on P/PV’s multifaceted efforts to improve the effectiveness of social policies, programs and community initiatives.
The project began with a Concept Paper in which I outlined four creative approaches for presenting P/PV’s activities and supporting its branding goals. After P/PV selected one of these concepts, I worked closely with the V.P. for Communications and other senior staff on writing, revising, and honing this 36-page report. I also participated in the initial stages of liaison with the report’s graphic designer.

I have served as a consultant at AIDS Service Center NYC since the mid-’90s and perform many services at the agency. I’ve worked extensively on ASC’s website and E-newsletter, editing the “News & Events” page, writing many of the lead articles, and conducting the interviews for the “My Perspective” column.
I worked closely with ASC’s Executive Director to develop the copy for ASC’s first public service announcement, “I Found,” which won the Cable Positive Outstanding Community Partnership POP Award in 2005.
Other examples of my work can be seen by visiting the “Publications” page of ASC’s website. I conducted and edited the interviews for the “Heroes: A Photo Project” book, edit and coordinate the bimonthly Phil Zwickler Memorial Poetry Page feature, and edit Situations, ASC’s literary magazine.
Situations magazine and the Phil Zwickler Memorial Poetry Page are offshoots of ASC’s highly successful Creative Writing Workshop, which I’ve had the honor of facilitating since its inception in early 2000. You can get a glimpse of this aspect of my work by viewing the trailer for the documentary My Life In Verse, which aired on Showtime in 2004.

I have worked with the Columbia University School of Nursing since 2004 to develop a series of emergency preparedness distance learning materials for hospital-based clinicians. The project, which is funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), aims to increase the capacity of health care professionals to respond to public health emergencies of all kinds.
Working closely with the content experts, I was the lead writer of four modules-The Basics, Incidents Affecting Children, Explosive Incidents, and Radiological Incidents. I also edited the other two modules to ensure a consistent voice and style across all six modules.

I wrote, edited, and researched this influential report from Funders for Lesbian and Gay Issues. The report was sent to hundreds of grantmakers nationwide to educate them about the effects of discrimination on LGBT elders, and is one of several projects I have worked on for this organization.

For this project, I conducted primary research and interviewed health care providers on best practices for providing GYN services to HIV-positive women. I wrote and edited major portions of the booklet, working closely with the Office of the Medical Director at the New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute.
